Leila Mohammadizadeh

Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern (Augusta University)

Currently, I am completing my practicum/internship for my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In this role, my primary objective is to establish a secure and supportive space for clients to delve into their thoughts, emotions, and challenges while I further develop my therapeutic skills. Together, we will cultivate mutual respect and trust, fostering an environment conducive to achieving your distinctive therapeutic goals.

I offer individual counseling for adults and adolescents. We can work together to address various mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, relationship complexities, self-esteem, and life transitions. I also provide counseling for stress management, identity development, career progression, and personal growth.

While my foundational methods are grounded in existential counseling and gestalt therapy, I integrate a diverse range of evidence-based approaches that best fit my client’s needs. Within this integrative framework, I strive to create a welcoming, empathetic, and non-judgmental atmosphere where you can feel heard, validated, and respected. My focus is on identifying your strengths, resources, and areas for growth to emphasize the role of accountability and perspective in achieving your therapeutic goals. Ultimately, I strive to help you build confidence and feel empowered in your ability to make positive changes in your life.

Additionally, in my current role as a graduate assistant at Augusta University, I lead the Multicultural Mentorship Program where I provide tailored support and guidance to undergraduates with marginalized identities and promote their academic, personal, and emotional balance. Prior to becoming a graduate student and counselor-in-training, I served as a childcare provider and a mentor for ethnically diverse youth. Outside of work hours, I enjoy spending my time at home with my cats and goats, cooking my favorite Persian meals, and listening to audiobooks.
